This workbench has been made from MDF and Tasmanian Oak. Please keep in mind that the processes in this bench have been rushed due to my time constrains, meaning I made some quick design decisions and was not sticking to standard building practices. Including glue drying times. Some of the parts I glued up, especially the Tasmanian oak to the front of the first bench to help level it back out, was not fully cured when I trimmed it down. It had been drying for approx. 4 hours as I attended to other parts of the build like painting etc. In a better situation where I would have had more time, I would have let this cure for more than 24 hours due to the stresses. But the screws did a good job keeping everything together.

(New woodworker). On finishes, I've tried 1) linseed oil (no specific brand... just old stuff that was my dad's, now mine). 2) Howard Citrus Shield Paste Wax, and 3) Tried & True Traditional Danish Oil (with a final coat of the paste wax, after two coats of the danish oil.) The linseed oil yellowed the wood (two projects: one maple, one poplar) more than I would have liked. The paste wax, applied to a walnut paper towel holder, looked nice at first, but doesn't hold up well to water drops. The danish oil looks really good on walnut. I tried it on two items, one of which still looks great (but doesn't get much handling), and also on the paper towel holder. I'd like to see how the danish oil by itself (without wax) stands up to water drops and moisture, as it seems that with the wax as a final coat, I still get ugly water drop marks.

Stunning piece of art! It is beyond my skill level, however, I am curious about the cost of wood. After COVID, the cost of wood, as we all know, has skyrocketed. Someone will have a beautiful table... at a price.

Functional piece of art. The attention to detail is beyond impressive. Loved every solution you had to check everything off the list. I would agree, to a degree, that some things may be overkill or unnecessary. But for every person, there is an extra level exerted on their passion that makes it worth the effort, that only them and a few will understand.
